This course was developed in collaboration with Cancer Council Victoria and VACCHO, and equips you with the knowledge, skills, and resources to support Community members in accessing both Cervical and Bowel Screening. You'll learn how to effectively communicate the importance of screening and help keep family members, Elders, and Mob safe.
Course Duration:
This course takes approximately 60 minutes to complete and is designed for self-paced learning.
You will have 60 days from the day you register (your start date) to complete the course.
An email reminder will be sent 7 days before the end of your enrolment to prompt you to complete any outstanding activities and download any materials you may wish to keep. If the course is not completed within 60 days, you will be unenrolled, and the content will no longer be available.

Learning Outcomes:
Cervical Screening Module
By the end of this course, you should have:
- Increased knowledge of cervical cancer.
- Increased confidence to discuss cervical cancer screening.
- Knowledge of the importance of HPV vaccination and its link to cervical cancer.
- Knowledge of where to find information about the National Cervical Screening Program and relevant resources for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients.
- Knowledge of how to access Cancer Council Victoria Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resources and the Cancer Council Victoria Information and Support Line (13 11 20).
- Increased confidence to direct people who receive a cervical cancer screening result that is positive to follow up testing with a GP or nurse.
- Access to resources to help promote cervical screening within Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities.
Bowel Screening Module
By the end of this course, you should have:
- Increased knowledge of bowel cancer and where to find information about the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program.
- Increased confidence to discuss bowel cancer screening and demonstrate the bowel cancer screening kit.
- Knowledge of how to access Cancer Council Victoria Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resources.
- Increased confidence to support Community members who receive a positive bowel cancer screening result to follow up testing with their GP.
- Access to resources to help promote bowel screening within Victorian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
