Course Overview

This course is made up of two modules:

  1. Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
  2. Psychological Safety

Course Duration

This training will take you approximately 50 minutes to complete.

Learning Outcomes

OHS Module

By the end of the training, you will be able to:

  • define both yours and Cancer Council Victoria’s roles and responsibilities in terms of Occupational Health and Safety legislation
  • identify risks and hazards (physical and mental) in the workplace
  • implement ways to reduce the risk of injury or harm to yourself and others
  • consult and communicate about workplace safety issues
  • undertake remedial action when affected by workplace hazards
  • act upon emergency procedures in the event of an emergency incident
  • recognise when an incident needs reporting and identify how to start the reporting process.
Psychological Safety Module

By the end of this training, you will understand:

  • explain what psychosocial hazards are
  • give 4 examples of workplace psychosocial hazards
  • identify 4 potential signs that someone may be experiencing the effects of workplace psychosocial hazards
  • explain how trauma can exist in the workplace
  • outline the differences between stress and trauma
  • give 3 examples of the consequences someone might experience after exposure to a traumatic event
  • identify 3 things people can do to improve their mental health and their general resilience.
